The best times are spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October). The weather is mild, perfect for walking the Lungomare or visiting the Aspromonte National Park without the intense summer heat.
The famous Riace Bronzes are housed in the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria (MArRC). We recommend booking tickets in advance during peak season. The museum is closed on Mondays.
Yes, Reggio Calabria is generally very safe for tourists. Like any city, we recommend staying aware of your surroundings in crowded areas and keeping an eye on personal belongings.
The Reggio Calabria Airport (Aeroporto dello Stretto) is just 5km south of the city. You can take the “Volabus” shuttle, a local train from the airport station, or a taxi which costs approximately €15-€20 to the center.
Don’t leave without trying ‘Nduja (spicy spreadable pork), fresh swordfish (pesce spada) from the Strait, and anything flavored with Bergamot—the “Green Gold” of Reggio.
